Tourist Information about Warsaw
Warsaw - Poland's largest city, and the center of its political, economic, scientific and cultural developments. As its capital, it used to be one of the most breath-taking and blasé cities in Central Europe until it was left almost totally ruined during the Nazi occupation of the Second World War. Starting out from scratch, the city rebuilt itself, recuperating from the havoc of its downfall. The infrastructures in the heart of the old city were painstakingly restored, until its 17 th and 18 th century appearances were saved. This city is separated into two by the Vistula River, with the Old Town, the modern city and majority of its major attractions lying on the western side; and the residential suburbs and business districts located in the east. Although the city once known during the Communist era was a total destruction, a great contrast can be seen to the new Warsaw, as busy streets and a growing trend of consumerism emanates. It boasts of its splendor through their museums and historical monuments, galleries and historical attractions, restaurants, open-air cafes and the never-ending nightlife, as the city continuously rebuilds itself, at par with the modern world. |
