Tourist Information about Savannah
Named as the 'Hostess city of the South,' Savannah dazzles its guests with its traditional southern charm and grace. It was founded in 1733 by the British General James Oglethorpe above River Street . Up until today, the city's historic district, one of the biggest preserved historical urban places in the United States , can still be greatly enjoyed. Though filled with architecturally significant buildings, museums, antique stores and Civil War forts, Savannah of course, does not lag behind when it comes to contemporary structures and must-see places such as restaurants, shops, art galleries, parks and nearby beaches. This symbolic city of Georgia rests on the Savannah River, a few miles upstream from the Atlantic Ocean state coastline. Hence, one of its must-try cuisines is the shrimp cooked into several delicacies. There is definitely no dull moments when in Savannah ! |
