Santiago occupies a total land area of 140 square kilometers, approximately 54 square miles. It is populated by about 5,500,000, about a third of the entire population of Chile , who mostly speak Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Aymara, or Rapanui. It is one of the most progressive and sophisticated of the various South American cities. Being the center of Chile , there is much to be done in Santiago .
