Main AttractionsMiami, Gardens and Animal Parks
The city is a delight to nature and animal lovers as it is home to various gardens and animal parks such as the Deering Estate at Cutler. This park is one of those exquisite unspoiled places to escape to because it is home to various rare plants, pine forests, and tropical hammocks. Since its creation in 1920, it has remained largely unspoiled and un-trampled although it is a favorite tourist destination. The Miami Metro Zoo is a 290-acre cageless zoo, the sanctuary of the apes, giant eland, Bengal tiger, and other exotic animals. It is also home to giraffes, ostrich, gazelles, and zebra, and the most visited Komodo dragon. The 40-mile wide Everglades National Park is a World Heritage Site. As the only subtropical area in North America, it's a haven for tropical plants, endangered species, and other animals. While fast airboat tours are available, the best way to explore the Park is by canoe. |
