Fort Sumter

Boasted as one of the most historic military sites in the whole country, Fort Sumter National Monument is where first shots were fired during the American Civil War in 1861. History reveals that the Confederates insisted the Fort Sumter be given up along with the bowing out of South Carolina . The Union , after 34 hours of incessant attack, had no choice but to give up. They were the first prisoners of the Civil War. The fort was then occupied by the Confederates but was regained by the Union in 1865. Free tours around the restructured fort that includes a museum, which exhibit the fort's colorful history, are available. Tour boats to the fort costs $12 for adults and $6 for children.

Charleston Museum

Founded in 1773, this attraction gives a picture of Charleston and the South Carolina Low country in its early days. Next to the country's museum are two National Historic Landmark houses, which reflect Southern life of before.

South Carolina Aquarium

If you are eager to see wonderful aquatic animals that embody the abounding biodiversity of South Carolina , the South Carolina Aquarium is the top place to go to. Admission to the aquarium costs $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and $8 for children under 12 years of age.
