Vast plantations situated along the Ashley River can be visited. Some films such as the renowned "Gone with the Wind" showcased the estate leading from the grand oak avenue seen in the area. Aside from visiting the original slave quarters and cotton gin house, tours can be also arranged for a magnificent excursion to the nation's oldest landscaped gardens and see peacocks and other farm animal roaming about. Pleasurable trips to Drayton Hall (the oldest preserved plantation house in the country), the Georgian Mansion , Middleton Place and Magnolia Plantation and Gardens are also recommended.
