ClimateBucharest climate is temperate-continental. While summer can be uncomfortably hot, the city experiences very cold winters with below-zero temperature with the rest of Romania. LanguageAlthough Romanian is the native and official language, most people in Bucharest can understand and speak English. Most educated people who are 35 years old and older can also speak competent French. Some people can speak German and Italian. SafetyWhen visiting Bucharest, beware of people who will pose as police officers and will approach tourists to ask for papers. Most often than not, these are scams. No officer in civilian clothes has the power to interrogate the tourists and demand for their papers. Also be cautious when riding buses and trolleybusses and watch out for thieves.
