Janie (United States)

I almost didn’t want to go to Belfast because I thought of it as uninteresting, unlike Dublin. But boy, was I wrong. There were lots of appealing stores there and shopping in Belfast turned out to be quite a blast. There were the large department stores in Donegall Place and the largest was the Castlecourt Shopping Centre on Royal Avenue. I was able to buy a few local paintings and some crafts at Workshops Collective—a set of studios near the university and housed in an old mews courtyard. Fridays are fun days at St. George's Market, which is Belfast’s farmers’ market. They have a wide array of fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers. There are also stalls that sell books, clothes and antiques. Saturdays are reserved for the more exotic as pheasant, venison and organic vegetables are sold here.
My daughter loved Fresh Garbage, a goth-themed store that has lots of clothing and jewelry with Celtic designs. It was still quite interesting, if I have to say so myself.
